OVER BLACK:

"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice."
- Robert Frost (Fire and Ice)

FADE TO BLACK:

WHITE IN:

EXT. SECTOR 42 - DAY

The pristine white snow is blinding. The wind howls a cold chill. A lens flare ignites the screen as a U.F.O. takes off from behind a snow dune and catapults into the Earth’s atmosphere and into the vastness of space.

EXT. ICE CAVE – DAY

DECEMBER 22, 2012

Ray Douglas scans the horizon, spotting the flying UFO as it disappears into space. He immediately picks up his radio and contacts the Pequod.

KNOWLE
(on radio, angry)
... in the middle of a mission and
can’t get the job done. This could
ruin everything. All our month’s of
planning down the shitter!

RAY DOUGLAS
General Rohrer, this is the White
Elephant. I just spotted a U.F.O.
leaving Sector 42-

KNOWLE
(practically growling, on radio)
DAMMIT!

RAY DOUGLAS
We’re not under alien attack
again, are we, sir?

DOGGETT
(on radio)
Ray... Mulder and Krycek may have
taken off in that U.F.O.

RAY DOUGLAS
Oh, is that why Knowle’s so mad?
(beat) Hey, tell ‘im I need some
butterscotch pudding just to piss him off.

There’s a long pause on Doggett’s end of the radio transmission. Did he just hear that right?

DOGGETT
(on radio)
Ray, I don’t think that now is
a good time to kid around-

RAY DOUGLAS
Trust me. (beat) He knows that
I think better on butterscotch.

There’s another long pause on Doggett’s end of the radio transmission. Does he or does he not tell Knowle that Ray is requesting permission to eat butterscotch pudding?

KNOWLE
(on radio)
Dammit, Ray. Now is not the ti-

RAY DOUGLAS
Knowle, there’s nothing we can do
about them flying off in a U.F.O.
So, stop wasting our time with it,
we’ve got a mission to do and I
need butterscotch.

SCULLY
(on radio)
Katie ate the last of the butterscotch
pudding last night for dessert.

Ray covers the microphone of the transmitter radio and mouths off “dammit”. He uncovers it.

RAY DOUGLAS
(admitting defeat)
All right, vanilla will have to do.

SCULLY
(on radio)
Actually, Johnny ate the last of
the vanilla pudding.

RAY DOUGLAS
Ok, chocolate. I need chocolate.

DOGGETT
(on radio)
Unless you can fly up to outer
space and catch up with Mulder
and Alex, you can kiss your
chocolate goodbye.

SCULLY
(on radio)
Oh my gosh. They took chocolate with
them, alone together to Sector 42?
Don’t they remember what that means? (beat)
I hope it wasn’t the dark chocolate-

RAY DOUGLAS
Chocolate vanilla swirl?

CAPTAIN SCULLY
(interrupting, on radio)
Ray, we need you to prepare your men
for battle. We just got word in that
the Hybrids attacked a land colony
only about an hour out from where you
are, it’s very likely that the Hybrids
are on their way to the Ice Cave. (beat)
So cut it out with all your pudding chatter.

RAY DOUGLAS
Fine, but ask Knowle, I think
better with pudding in my system.

KNOWLE
(on radio)
You think good without it, Ray,
so knock it off.

RAY DOUGLAS
Copy that. (beat) Out.

Ray turns off his radio transmitter and leaves the communications room inside the Ice Cave. He walks out into the main wing of the facility and raises his chest proudly as he sees that all his men are there and ready for battle. He always believed in being ready before any Brass could give him the direct order. Inside, he feels so much pride in the men and women he has trained for this day. In a way... it feels like Graduation Day at Camp Lejeune. Where you train your men and they grow beyond your own control, into blood thirsty, blood-makes-the-grass-grow, soldiers. He catches the eye of Shannon McMahon and she nods, knowing exactly the thoughts going through his head, they are the same thoughts running through her head. For they were the two Jarheads who trained these former maggots into the fighting men and women they are today. Ray nods back at her.

RAY DOUGLAS
(gung-ho, with pride)
OOH RAH!

Shannon locks and loads her weapon and scowls, readying herself to kick these mother fucker Hybrids into their next lives. Bring it, bitch. If looks could kill... there would be no war.

Ray takes a deep breath and walks confidently towards his men to let them know that they just received orders to be ready for battle.

CUT TO:

INT. ALIEN UFO – SPACE

Mulder and Krycek are scared and are in a tractor beam being pulled into the Alien Mother Ship.

MULDER
This is so cool.

KRYCEK
I know, we’re actually being
pulled into the mother ship by
a tractor beam. Kinda like the Death Star.

MULDER
I know.

It’s amazing that these two ninnies haven’t yet realized the danger they are in.

MULDER
(after a beat; serious)
Seriously?

KRYCEK
(terrified)
I’m scared shitless. I think
I just urinated in my pants.

Buddy hops off his lap with a whimper and runs to hide near Mulder.

MULDER
That’s gross.

KRYCEK
You know, it’s funny...

Mulder looks at him, what could possibly be funny about being pulled towards enemy aliens by a tractor beam?

KRYCEK (CON’T)
Before your end, you urinate. (beat; pensive)
Urine. Urine. Say it over and over again.

MULDER/KRYCEK
Urine. Urine. Urine. Ur-ine. Urine.
(beat) Urr (beat) in.

KRYCEK
(coming to his point)
Your end.

MULDER
Your end?

KRYCEK
Many people, urine before their end.
(beat) Your end. (beat) Get it?

MULDER
(feeling strange)
I do actually... (beat) That’s lame.

KRYCEK
(quick to point out)
But true.

MULDER
And lame.

KRYCEK
Very true.

They stare back at the mother ship and contemplate how the heck they are going to get out of this one. This can’t be their end, not like this!

KRYCEK
So, how are we going to get
out of this one? Can we even?

MULDER
I don’t know buddy, but I promised
Maria when I proposed to her that
if any fighting took place at Sector 42
that I would fight my hardest to get
back to her. I can’t let my promise
down. Not to her, or my Super Buddies.

KRYCEK
But the tractor beam...

MULDER
I know, I’ve tried. There’s nothing
I can do to get out of it. We’re stuck.

KRYCEK
But I don’t want to die.

MULDER
Who’s to say we’ll die?

KRYCEK
(duh, dummy)
Aliens and a tractor beam.

MULDER
But what if I could get them to
join Super Buddies and we could
become Universal... love and friendship-

Krycek smacks him over the head.

MULDER
Owie!

KRYCEK
STOP IT, MULDER! This is serious! We’re
actually being pulled into an enemy alien
mother ship! Super Buddies can’t save us!
Now get your head out of your ass and-

MULDER
-AND WHAT?! What is there we can do?

They enter the mother ship and the dark shadow casts down on them, silencing their fight.

Mulder and Krycek gulp in fear. They’ve never seen an alien craft this HUGE before and now they are entering it and there is no turning back.

MULDER
(scared)
It’s a good thing I brought my camera.

Mulder grabs his rucksack and retrieves his camera. Krycek looks over at him with disbelief.

KRYCEK
You brought your camera? Why?
We’re gonna die and no one’s
ever gonna to see it!

MULDER
You’re so pessimistic, Alex. You see,
I fully believe in Mulder Luck, even
if I have to work to retain such luck.

Mulder starts to snap pictures. Even if they don’t live through this, there is the off chance that his camera will fall out of the mother ship, survive Earth’s atmosphere on re-entry, and fall to land where someone will find it and see what it was like.

Krycek rolls his eyes.

Mulder looks over at him with all seriousness. He stops snapping photos.

MULDER
(serious)
Alex... I need to tell you something
very, very serious and important.

KRYCEK
Word, yo!

MULDER
(serious)
All these years... ever since I broke
down the wall that divided our apartments,
twelve years ago... You remember, after our
trip to Roswell and you got arrested two or
three times, and came back and I broke down the wall...

Krycek nods, remembering – feeling happy and nostalgic.

MULDER (CON’T)
(hesitant)
Well... remember how serious you were,
and how much more of a man you were...
Well... I did this psychological experiment
on you to see if I could make you behave
like and immature boy, a raving lunatic, and
a questionable homosexual.

Krycek is very quiet as he takes this all in. He starts to really think about what Mulder has just told him. And he starts to nod his head, as if checking of factual points in his mind. His face is tense, but starts to relax with realization. He looks over at Mulder, who smiles “innocently” at him – knowing very well the wrong he has done.

KRYCEK
(serious, more manly)
Let me get this straight... you broke
down the wall to my apartment, forcing
me to live with you just to see if you
could change the way I am... and it worked?!

Mulder smiles sheepishly and shrugs his shoulders.

MULDER
I studied psychology, what can I say?

Krycek’s look could kill him.

KRYCEK
I don’t know what to say to this – to you.
I mean, for twelve years you fucked with me! Why?

MULDER
Well, remember when you opened that
strip club in Las Vegas, “The Gutter”,
and had Scully strip for you as your
headline girl?

KRYCEK
(mad)
In 1988, yes.

MULDER
Well, you know I had this huge
crush on her right? Well... I was
angry at you and-

KRYCEK
(pissed)
Holy shit, Mulder! You were mad
about something from 1988?! So
I don’t see you from that time
until 1999 – eleven years – and
you... I don’t get it?

MULDER
I was mad that you made her strip.

KRYCEK
For god’s sake! She was going
along with it! She wanted to do it!
Did you really think I’d actually
open a club if she didn’t want to help?!
HOLY FUCK! For cryin’ out loud! You
mucked up my life so completely that
you ruined it, you low-down, dirt eating,
no brain, half wit piece of gum stuck to
the bottom of a New York taxi cab piece of-

MULDER
I’m sorry!

Krycek stands up, not wanting to tolerate this any longer. He can’t even look at him. He’s never felt so betrayed!

KRYCEK
(not accepting)
Sorry?! All these years you continued
your little psychological experiment
on me! I-I. I can’t forgive this!

Krycek storms out of the cockpit, refraining himself from punching Mulder square in the nose and beating him to a pulp! All these years he’s been his friend, and now to know that it’s all been a lie, some kind of stupid psychological experiment all because he and Scully opened a strip club in Las Vegas! Oooh! Alex has never felt this kind of rage before in his life – and he’s been an assassin for the Syndicate, he’s killed mercilessly for a living for cryin’ out loud. He paces by the entrance of the little UFO. Continuing to look back at Mulder with a scowl on his face.

Mulder comes up behind him.

MULDER
Krycek, I’m sorry. I fucked up!

Krycek turns and scowls at him.

KRYCEK
You were the only friend I had.
You were my brother! I-I... I don’t
even know what to say to you! Knowing
that our friendship has all been a lie!

MULDER
But it hasn’t been a lie! A-A-As difficult
and as frustrating as it’s been sometimes,
you’ve made me happy! You’ve helped me
discover who I am. Made me realize that
there is more to life than aliens and the truth-

KRYCEK
(hurt)
You don’t do something like this to a friend.

MULDER
You think I don’t know that, Krycek?
Over all these years I realized what
true friendship is. You are my friend
even when your world was flipped up-side-down.
When you hurt our friends because of your
boosted ego, you think that didn’t hurt me
knowing that I could have caused you to be
that egotistical maniac that could easily
been manipulated?

KRYCEK
Well, I’m glad that hurt you! You’re at
as much fault for my actions back then as I am.

MULDER
Please don’t hate me, I’m truly
sorry for the wrong I did to you.
I had no right whatsoever to manipulate
and destroy who you are. (beat) I
owe you everything, and Alex, you owe me nothing.

Krycek turns away from him, not wanting to look at him. This is a man he has trusted for so many years. He turns back to him.

KRYCEK
You’re just as fucked up as I am!
I mean, the way you act – like a
mental retard and do stupid things!
Look where it’s got us! (beat) Inside
a fucking alien mother ship, and for
what joyful reason?

MULDER
I know. You think I’m not ashamed?

KRYCEK
I really don’t think you are, Mulder.

MULDER
Well, I am... though, if we live
through this, it will be a cool story.

KRYCEK
Yeah, but you still fucked with me!

Krycek turns away from him, he can’t face him right now. He quickly wipes a tear from his eyes.

KRYCEK
(back to Mulder)
I can’t be around you right now.

Krycek presses a button that releases the airtight protection of the UFO from the outer nothingness of space.

Mulder’s eyes bug!

MULDER
(panicked)
ALEX! NO! We don’t know if
we can breathe out there!

Krycek’s eyes bug, realizing that he didn’t think of this!

And the door opens with a gasping sound as the UFO’s oxygen meeting the outside.

CUT TO:

EXT. PEQUOD – FLIGHT DECK – DAY

Several handfuls of fighter jets are being prepared to takeoff. Knowle is loading a few weapons on board the fighter jet that he and Monica will take to get over to Ray’s Ice Cave. Monica comes to his side, carrying his 50 pound rucksack. She sets it down beside his feet.

MONICA
I hope that you packed everything
that we need, Knowle.

KNOWLE
I thought it was your job to
foresee what we’ll need.

He winks at her and gives her a flirty smile. She lightly punches him on the arm.

KNOWLE
I know that you’ve been briefed on
what your role is in this battle, but
I want you to reiterate it to me, just
so that I feel confident that you and
I are on the same page.

MONICA
Not only am I to try to tap into
the minds and battle plans of the
Hybrids, but I am to fight side-by-side
with you and the others. Use of weapons
is necessary, but because of my talents
in hand-to-hand combat, I will be more
useful in that manner.

KNOWLE
Right. (beat) You know that I don’t
like that the Captain wants you out
in the thick of things-

MONICA
I’ll be all right, Knowle. I can
take care of myself. Know that.
Trust that. Because if you don’t
trust me, then the risk to your own
life will be even greater.

Knowle nods his head and picks up the 50 pound rucksack. Monica places a kiss on his cheek and gives his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

She turns around and sees John, Dana, and Katie approaching their fighter jet. Dana holds onto Katie’s hand in order to keep her close. Monica waves at them, and Katie tries to break free of her mother’s grasp on her hand in order to hug Monica.

MONICA
Hey guys.

DOGGETT
We thought we’d come see you two off.

KNOWLE
You’re not coming on land?

DOGGETT
No.

John looks at his wife and daughter and then back at Knowle.

DOGGETT
I need to be here with them.
(beat) I’ll be monitoring the
action from the island.

KNOWLE
We need your experience out there, John.

DOGGETT
And I need to be here just in
case any action hits the Pequod.
I’m not leaving my family behind,
and that’s that.

Knowle cocks an eyebrow and shrugs his shoulders. He’s not exactly happy to know that one of the finest Marines he’s ever known will be sitting out on the action. Monica gives Knowle a look, telling him that if he were in John’s position he would be doing the exact same thing.

Knowle looks back at John.

KNOWLE
I don’t anticipate any of the fighting
reaching this ship, but to be safe make
sure that Dana is armed and ready to
protect you and Katie, all right?

DOGGETT
I haven’t spent the past couple weeks
working with Dana at the firing range
for nothing, Knowle.

SCULLY
I hadn’t handled a firearm in years.
I asked John to give me a crash course.
We’ll be fine.

KATIE
I even get to use Uncle Mulder’s
water gun!

Knowle gives John a look.

DOGGETT
Dana filled it with the vaccine.
If anything it’ll weaken any
Hybrid if she soaks it, right?

KNOWLE
Maybe, we don’t know.

Knowle doesn’t like that a five year old child may have to engage in this battle, but such is the way of life right now with the Hybrids being a constant danger to their lives. He only hopes that human forces win this war because if they win, it’s quite possible that life as they knew it so many years ago can be restored. Life on land, re-building cities and towns, and hopefully restoration of the planet’s regular seasonal cycle.

Dana spots her brother, Charles, staring at her from across the flight deck where he’s preparing to head out to battle. She gives him a slight nod, letting him know that she, Katie and John will be right over to say goodbye. She lets go of Katie’s hand and walks up to Monica. She hugs her.

SCULLY
You stay safe, ok?

Dana’s eyes tear up, she didn’t mean or want this to happen. She has this feeling that she may never see Monica again after today. She tightens her embrace around her and does her best to fight off her tears.

MONICA
It’s ok, Dana.

Monica looks down at Katie who is wiping a tear away from her eyes too. She gives Katie a smile and waves at her. Katie, suddenly shy, hides behind John’s leg. Despite her five years of life, she can feel the sense of danger that her parents and their friends (her honorary aunts and uncles) are facing. She doesn’t understand what is going on, and not knowing scares her.

Dana pulls away from Monica and wipes tears from her face. Monica kneels down next to Katie.

MONICA
Don’t be scared, Katie. Your
daddy will keep you safe.

KATIE
I know.

Katie comes out from behind her dad’s leg and hugs Monica.

KATIE
But I’m scared anyway.

John and Dana share a look. Neither of them ever wanted their daughter to be scared of what is going on. They’ve tried their best to protect her from knowing the danger of the world they live in. Last night they told her that everyone will be fighting against bad guys to make sure that their life can be safe forever. Once Katie fell asleep in between them that night, John made the decision to stay aboard the Pequod to be with his daughter, to make her feel that everything is going to be all right and that she is safe. She cried the hardest when he and Dana told her that he’d be out fighting the bad guys. It broke his heart to see his daughter so upset.

Then there’s Dana and her condition. If this war is won, and he lost his life out in battle, he would leave behind his pregnant wife, unborn son and his daughter. That is not something that he is willing to risk right now. He trusts that Ray, Shannon, Knowle and himself have trained these men and women who will fight for their freedom.

He watches as Dana hugs Knowle and whispers something into his ear. Knowle nods and tightens his grip around her. He places a little kiss on her cheek then steps away, messing up her hair. He places his hand on her pregnant belly, she’s not showing, but his gesture touches her and she hugs him again.

John looks down at Katie who is still hugging Monica and he walks over to Dana and Knowle.

DOGGETT
(joking)
All right, cut it out, she’s
my wife, not yours.

Knowle steps away from Dana and goes up to John and gives him one massive bear hug. They pat each other on the back then step away from each other.

KNOWLE
I was just telling her that
we’ll make it back and live to
see the day that your little boy
mutters his first word... “shit”.

SCULLY
(to John)
He said that was your first word.
Is he making that up or is that true?

John rubs the back of his neck and smiles, he gives Knowle a look.

DOGGETT
It’s true, unfortunately.

SCULLY
Your mom must have loved that.

Monica walks over to them, carrying Katie in her arms. She passes Katie off to Dana.

KATIE
Ooh rah, uncle Knowle.

Knowle smiles and grabs onto Katie’s little hand which she’s outstretched to him.

KNOWLE
You listen to your mom and
dad, all right?

KATIE
I will.

Knowle turns to Monica.

KNOWLE
You ready?

MONICA
As ever.

Knowle helps hoist Monica up into the fighter jet. She sits in the back and straps herself in. Knowle turns and looks at John, Dana, and Katie again. He nods his head at John and gives a reassuring wink to Dana and Katie then he climbs up into the cockpit of his fighter jet. As the hatch to the jet starts to close, John leads Dana and Katie away from the plane. Behind them, Charles is approaching. He touches Dana on the shoulder.

CHARLES
You guys’ll want to be over here
when they takeoff. You don’t want
to risk getting sucked into the jet
engine or blown into the ocean from
the blast.

Charles hands each of them protective ear gear. Knowle and Monica are the first to takeoff for this battle, and it’s about to get really loud on deck. John puts his ear protection on and then helps Katie get hers on as Dana does her own.

Knowle maneuvers his fighter jet so that it’s sitting right in front of a jet blast deflector. He and Monica sit and wait while the flight crew prepares for takeoff. The flight crew works as one well-oiled machine and before we know it the hand sign that all is ready for takeoff is given, and Knowle starts the engine. The catapult towbar and holdback restrain the jet from taking off immediately. Steam fills the air surrounding the jet and then SUDDENLY the jet races down the runway, and in only three seconds or less the jet is in the air and on its way to the Ice Cave Headquarters.

Katie screams with delight, she’s never seen the flight deck in action before. It’s quite exciting. She looks up at Knowle and Monica’s fighter jet and waves. Charles messes up Katie’s hair and takes her into his arms.

CHARLES
Hey, kid, you know your uncle
Charles gets to do that in about
ten minutes.

KATIE
You do? Wow!

CHARLES
I do. So I need to be getting
ready so why don’t you give
me a big kiss goodbye, ok?

Katie plants a big wet one right smack on her uncle’s lips and gives him the tightest hug she can muster.

CHARLES
Aw-right, you behave now ok.
And I promise when I get back
you and I will do some serious
ice cream sundae damage at your
uncle Knowle’s restaurant, ok?

KATIE
Yay!

Charles sets Katie down and turns to his brother-in-law, John.

CHARLES
You take care of my baby sister-

DOGGETT
Don’t let her hear you say that, man.
Remember she is older than you.

CHARLES
Don’t matter, she’s the little
sister I never had.

Charles wraps his arms around John and pats him on the back.

CHARLES
Seriously though, take care
of them. You can’t live without
them and they can’t live without you.

DOGGETT
I will.

Charles turns to Dana and catches her wiping tears from her eyes.

CHARLES
Hormones got you all weepy, eh?

SCULLY
Shut up, Charles.

CHARLES
C’mon it’s good to let your
feelings out little sis’.

Dana raises an eyebrow and lets that one slide. Sometimes she actually likes being called his “little” sister. She wraps her arms around her brother and lets her tears fall freely. There’s no denying it, she’s afraid of what is to come in the next hours, maybe even days. She had a hard enough time learning that her brother William hadn’t survived the alien invasion out in San Diego, and she had a hard time learning that her sister hadn’t survived, she can’t lose the only sibling she’s got left. He’s an important part of her life now.

SCULLY
(quiet, crying)
Don’t be afraid to run away
from danger. We’ve got plenty
men out there who can get the
job done.

Charles rests his chin on her shoulder and sighs. He wraps his arms tighter around her.

CHARLES
I wouldn’t be the soldier that
I am today if I ran away from
danger, Dana.

SCULLY
(crying)
I know, but... I don’t want to lose you too.

Charles holds onto the back of her head, still holding her close so that she can’t see the expression of concern, worry, doubt and fear that is on his face. True, he is an experienced Marine, but regardless of experience, any soldier going first into battle knows that the risk of death is there, and he is willing to risk death in order to fight for loved ones back at home. His eye catches John’s and he pulls away from his sister.

John stands next to Dana and wraps his arm around her shoulders.

CHARLES
Wish me luck!

And with that he turns his back and runs back to his fighter jet. He pats his partner on the back as they ready their plane for takeoff.

John looks down at Dana, she can’t keep her eyes off of her brother. He hears another fighter jet takeoff from the deck. He squeezes his arm around her shoulder.

DOGGETT
Let’s get back inside. It’s
about to get hectic out here.

Dana nods her head and picks up Katie. They head back inside where they are safe from jet engines and blasts. As John opens the door to go back inside, Dana takes one last glance back at her brother. She forces a smile and sighs a heavy sigh then steps back into the safety of the inside of the air craft carrier.

CUT TO:

INT. ALIEN MOTHER SHIP

Krycek walks ahead of Mulder down one of the passage ways of the Mother Ship. He is still fuming with anger at Mulder’s psychological experiment on him.

KRYCEK
You betrayed me!

MULDER
(pleading for his friendship)
How many times do I have to tell you,
I never meant to take it as far as I did.
(beat) It just started to work and I
became insane enough to find out how much-

KRYCEK
STOP FOLLOWING ME!

Mulder stops, leaving Krycek to walk a few more steps, knowing that in a couple moments he’s going to realize he’s walking down the dark, creepy passage way of an alien mother ship.

Krycek stops and turns around.

KRYCEK
Where the hell am I even going?

MULDER
Beats me, but I think it would
be wise to stick together – that’s
why I’m following you.

KRYCEK
Fine. But only until we get out
of this mess you got us into. When
we get back home, I’m moving out!

MULDER
Well, you’ll have to anyway since
I got married last night and we don’t
want you living with us.

Krycek pauses – oh yeah, he temporarily forgot.

MULDER
(defensive)
Besides. I don’t know why you’re
so mad at me anyway. It’s not my
fault your susceptible to manipulations.

Krycek scowls at him.

KRYCEK
Are you seriously trying to blame me?

MULDER
No. (beat) But what if it all wasn’t
a manipulation. What if I just helped
you discover who you really are. I mean,
you have to agree, you were pretty amazing
as a last minute wedding coordinator – I’m
not saying all wedding coordinators are gay,
but most male ones you see on TV or in the
movies certainly are. So what if...

He trails off when he sees Krycek’s scowl. Woopsie... he may have just pissed him off royally again.

KRYCEK
That doesn’t make me gay. Besides,
what part of “I love Marita” says
that I’m gay?

MULDER
Well, it’s happened before where
a gay man has married a woman. I
mean, you’re in figure skating, you
ought to know... you told me all about
that US skater that married a woman who
was his choreographer – and even though
he’s married and never came out, he still
wore belly shirts and skated to the Backstreet Boys.

Krycek glares at him.

KRYCEK
So now you’re saying because I’m a talented
figure skater in ice dancing that that makes me gay?

Mulder shrugs.

MULDER
Face it man, all the questions about
whether I am or not have been answered.
I got married last night – to a woman.

KRYCEK
Yeah well, ditto what you said above
about that figure skater.

Krycek turns away from him and continues to walk down the hall – his way of putting a winning mark on the conversation.

MULDER
I’m not gay!

KRYCEK
(still walking away)
Yeah well, I’ve been with Marita
for years while you were the single one.

MULDER
(defensive)
I was Handsome Alvin at all
the clubs around town. Women love me!

KRYCEK
Yeah, well, you’re a split personality weirdo!

MULDER
(defensive)
I am-

He stops shortly upon hearing a strange noise behind him. Krycek stops walking, having heard the same sound himself... He turns, slowly and dramatically... at the exact same time Mulder turns slowly and dramatically. They both see a group of aliens standing at the end of the hallway.

The aliens click to one another, speaking in their mother tongue. They seem confused as to why Mulder and Krycek - two human beings - would be on board their ship. They look back at the humans and Mulder smiles innocently. The lead alien growls and tears off towards the boys with a snarling sprint.

Mulder’s and Krycek’s eyes bug and they haul ass down the hallway!

SMASH CUT TO:

EXT. ICE CAVE – DAY

The Ice Cave is under heavy attacks by Hybrid ground forces. Gunfire echoes from everywhere and chaos has ensued. Skinner looks up from his fresh kill and notices in the sky that a massive amount of alien aircrafts are heading in the direction of the Pequod.

He’s about to turn and shout at the others what he has seen when a Hybrid jumps on his back, attacking him with brutal violence. He struggles against the strength of the being and quickly lurches forward with his stiletto, but the creature knocks him hard and the weapon flies away from him. The claws of the Hybrid grow, showing the deadliness of it’s alien DNA and as it screams a horrific screech of attack, it suddenly ends it’s assault on Skinner and the creature is pulled off of him, revealing Monica.

She helps Skinner to his feet.

SKINNER
Alien aircrafts are heading to
the Pequod – a massive amount.

MONICA
I know, I can feel them. They are
planning an assault at sea.

SKINNER
We need to notify them-

He is cut short, when Monica pushes him out of the way of another attacking Hybrid, which she manages to kill instantly in a swift hand-to-hand encounter with the creature.

KNOWLE
(yelling from the chaos)
Monica – watch your six!

Monica turns and encounters another swift Hybrid assault, defeating it with only a slight struggle. She turns to Skinner.

MONICA
Get on the radio and warn them!

Skinner runs towards the radio, and is about to grab the receiver when the radio is demolished by alien fire from the sky above. He looks up, just in time to see another blast fired down at him, which he dodges, falling to the ground. He looks at the remains of the radio, and it is beyond repair, making it impossible to contact the Pequod to warn them of the incoming attack.

CUT TO:

INT. DOGGETT FAMILY QUARTERS – THE PEQUOD – CON’T

Katie is sitting at the dining room table watching as her mom uses a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire on the stovetop. The plan was to have grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, and though Dana really thought that she could make the simple sandwich after having seen her husband make them many times before, her attempt was an ultimate failure.

Finally, the fire is put out. Dana looks back at her daughter as she sets the fire extinguisher on the kitchen counter. She blows a strand of hair out of her view and leans back on the counter.

SCULLY
Shortcake, when you grow up
and fall in love, make sure that
you marry a man who knows how to cook.

KATIE
I know. Daddy said so too.

SCULLY
Did he?

KATIE
Yep.

SCULLY
I’ll have to bring that up
with him. He’s always told me
that you’re too young right now
for us to be thinking about you
getting married.

In this moment she takes the time to think about how thankful she is that neither Krycek nor Mulder has had any kids yet. Statistically speaking, women marry men who are at least a few years older than them. It’s unlikely that her daughter will marry into either the Krycek or the Mulder families.

SCULLY
How about we have a plain
old cheese sandwich?

KATIE
That’s what I wanted in the
first place, mommy.

Dana smiles, she should have listened to her daughter. Now she’ll have to explain to John why the stovetop has been burnt.

Suddenly, Dana and Katie feel the ship shudder. The power flickers.

KATIE
(scared)
Mommy...?

Dana walks over to her daughter’s side and touches her shoulder. She looks up at the ceiling as if that offers the answer to her question... what was that?

Dana rushes to the phone to call the navigation bridge to ask John what is happening. She doesn’t finish dialing as she is interrupted by a loud siren indicating to everyone on board to abandon ship. She looks back at Katie, who is now out of her chair and clutching onto her stuffed animal dog, Johnny The Dog.

Dana grabs a pre-packed duffel bag that she and John packed the night before with items that in the event something should happen they’d have important and meaningful items to take with them off the ship.

SCULLY
Katie, get your shoes on.

KATIE
(on the verge of crying)
Where’s daddy?

SCULLY
Daddy’s all right, but we have
to go. (beat) Now hurry.

Dana knows that now is not the time for Katie to be the child. The siren that screams down the hallways of the Pequod is a direct order from the Captain that it is absolutely necessary to abandon ship. Dana knows that this means that she must get Katie on deck and into one of the many lifeboats that will take them to shore where they quite possibly will be met with enemy fire. She helps her daughter with the Velcro of her shoes, and helps her into her warm winter jacket. This will be Katie’s first time ever on land. She grabs Katie’s Elmo school bag backpack and puts it onto Katie’s shoulders.

The door to their quarters opens and John rushes into the room.

DOGGETT
(stern, commanding)
We gotta move, now.

Dana nods her head and John hands her warm winter jacket to her. He picks up Katie so that he is carrying her in his arms as he leads them out of their home and towards upper deck. They step outside of their quarters and Dana reaches into her pocket to retrieve the key to lock up. John grabs onto her hand, knowing that locking up behind them is pointless.

DOGGETT
Aft got hit real bad. Captain
said she’ll go down slow so we
have enough time-

SCULLY
Who-

DOGGETT
Alien crafts from space flew
in and provided air support
for the Hybrids-

They feel another shudder and all goes pitch black. Katie screams. It echoes down the long corridor as the ship moans, an eerie foreshadow to its own death. John places his hand on the wall to help guide him out of the ship. He loses grip of Dana’s hand as she trips over the hatch that divides the hallway into sections. He trusts that she can get up on her own and he is right. He hears her mutter a curse under her breath and then hears her footsteps behind him.

The backup power of the Pequod kicks in and the red emergency lights come on. It’s still dark, but at least they can see where they are going. Suddenly the ceiling above them COLLAPSES, separating John and Katie from Dana. This stops John in his tracks. His first instinct is to put Katie down and try to make his way through the debris of the fallen ship, then rationalization sinks in and he knows that he has no time to waste in order to get his daughter on deck and into the lifeboat that will get her off this sinking vessel.

Katie screams again and begins to cry. She reaches out towards the fallen debris, fearing the worst for her mother. John pauses for only another second to look back at the debris, knowing that the fate of his wife is unknown. He has to get his daughter out of here, it is what Dana would have wanted.

CUT TO:

EXT. FLIGHT DECK – THE PEQUOD

The ship is already at an angle, going down at the rear. The flight deck is filled with people waiting patiently to evacuate. Captain Scully is helping Maria to get children onto one of the lifeboats. Marita is already in the boat helping the children get situated. The Cigarette-Smoking Man is helping and lifts a small boy and places him into the lifeboat. The child cries and reaches out towards his mother, and the Cancer Man helps her on board as well.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
(to Captain Scully)
We need to have someone with
weapons training on this boat.
The moment they hit land, they
are going to be under attack.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
John should be here any minute.
He’s going on this boat.

Captain Scully looks behind him and sees John and Katie running towards him – without his daughter, Dana.

A blast from above fires down on the Pequod, hitting near John and Katie. Doggett crouches over his daughter to protect her from the incoming enemy fire. He looks up at the Captain and can read the worry on his face. They move towards him and John hands Katie and the duffle bag to Maria. She helps Katie into the lifeboat and Katie runs up to Marita, tears stream down her face. Marita takes her and sits her in a seat and kneels down in front of her to comfort her the best she can right now.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
Where’s Dana?

DOGGETT
The ceiling collapsed and we were
separated. I need to go back, see if
I can find her-

CAPTAIN SCULLY
-I need you on this lifeboat, John. You
are the only one with weapons training.
You need to protect them. It’s likely that
you’ll be attacked by ground forces when
you reach the shore.

Another blast hits the boat, exploding the top of the ship’s island. The two men dodge falling debris.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
(stern)
Get on the boat, John.

Doggett hesitates, not wanting to leave without his wife. He hears Katie crying. He feels in his heart that the right thing to do is not risk his life. He can not orphan his daughter. She is his number one priority right now – the most important person in his life. He has to stay with her in order to protect her. He looks back at her and sees her reaching out to him, her face stained with tears.

Without any more hesitation, he makes his way to the boat. The Cancer Man stops him abruptly and hands him a bag of weapons and ammunition.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
You’ll need these.

Doggett takes the bag and nods his head as he gets onto the lifeboat, helping the others get situated before they are lowered to sea.

Another blast his the ship with a thunderous shudder.

Doggett hands Marita the bag of weapons and she immediate starts to load them. Maria sits next to her sister, needing a rather quick crash course on weapons so she can help when they reach the shore.

As the boat begins to lower, Doggett starts to load the weapons he will use then sits down and takes Katie, holding her in his lap. His heart breaks at the loss of his wife, but he dare not show his grief now to his daughter. There is a war to fight, grieving will be put on hold until after everything is said and done.

He looks down at his little girl in his arms and kisses her cheek and then rests his chin gently on top of her head. Between now and landing on shore he’s going to have to teach her a little bit about loading ammunition so that she can help him stay loaded once they hit land. It’s not known if they will immediately see enemy fire once on shore, but the way things have been going he’s preparing for the worst.

As they lower to the cold ocean water below, he looks at the ship. She’s lower in the water now than she was a few minutes ago when they first got onto the flight deck. It won’t be long now before she sinks to her final resting place on the bottom of the ocean floor.

CUT TO:

INT. ALIEN MOTHER SHIP - SPACE

Mulder and Krycek are lying on separate exam beds. They are naked, their private parts hidden by a black cloth. The room is dark, with random lights here and there.

MULDER
(fighting with Krycek)
None of this would have happened
if you didn’t-

KRYCEK
(fighting with Mulder)
Me?! What about you! You were the
one who wanted to see what it was
like inside an alien ship and die!

MULDER
I didn’t want to die! You were the
one who opened the damn UFO in the first place!

KRYCEK
I never would have if you didn’t get
us inside that thing to begin with!

Alien scientists are stuck listening to them bitch and moan to one another, blame one another and go back and forth – they’ve been doing this for hours. One can’t help but sympathize with the aliens in this moment.

MULDER
... the chocolate pudding then none
of this would have happened!

KRYCEK
(matter of fact)
Hey, we both stole that together. (beat)
If we never played “The Empire Strikes Back”,
none of this would have happened!

MULDER
THAT WAS YOUR IDEA!

Krycek opens his mouth to speak, but stops and thinks – gee, he’s right, that was his idea.

KRYCEK
Yeah, well, you’re the one with
all the bottled up mischief!

MULDER
You are too!

KRYCE
I do not!

MULDER
You do too!

KRYCEK
No I don’t!

MULDER
Yes you do!

KRYCEK
Do not!

MULDER
Do too!

KRYCEK
Where’s your proof!

MULDER
You’re my proof! You were there!
With me! When we got inside the UFO!

KRYCEK
WHATEVER, PUNK!

MULDER
DON’T CALL ME PUNK! PUNK!

KRYCEK
SHUT UP!

MULDER
YOU SHUT UP!

Suddenly a bright blinding light shines into their eyes and they squint. But at least the light shut them up.

MULDER
(after a beat)
Hey Alex...

KRYCEK
Yeah, Mulder?

MULDER
You don’t think they’re going
to anally probe us, do you?

KRYCEK
I hope not!

The light goes off and all is silent and dark.

MULDER
(after a beat)
Hey Alex...

KRYCEK
Yeah, Mulder?

MULDER
Are we really going to die?

KRYCEK
I don’t know.

MULDER
I don’t want to die. I
just got married to a really
sweet girl who is nothing like Diana.

KRYCEK
Then let’s not die.

Mulder looks over at him puzzled.

MULDER
How do you suppose we do that?

KRYCEK
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking
during our fighting and I realize
that we’re too busy being mad at
each other to get out of this mess. I
have to realize that what’s done is done.
It’s how I used to be – live and let be, right?

Mulder nods his head.

MULDER
Does this mean we’re friends again?

KRYCEK
Under a few conditions-

MULDER
Should a friendship have conditions?

KRYCEK
(right back at you)
Should you do psychological
experiments on your friends?

Mulder nods, point taken.

KRYCEK (CON’T)
You don’t mess with me any more.
We return back to the Mulder and
Krycek we used to be – before your
psychological experiment.

Mulder nods in agreement.

KRYCEK (CON’T)
(humored)
However... when we use the power of
our friendship to get us out of this
mess and back to Earth, we keep up
our silly act because it is too funny
to see how much the other’s can tolerate.

Mulder laughs out loud.

MULDER
That’s brilliant, man!

KRYCEK
I know, it totally is! I’d
give you a high five if I weren’t
strapped down naked to this thing.

MULDER
Me too!

A moment of silence as they both ponder the same thing at the same time... how many other naked humans have been where they are right now, and have the aliens sanitized the exam beds?

MULDER/KRYCEK
Ewww!

CUT TO:

INT. COCKPIT - DAY

Charles Scully fires down upon alien crafts, shooting them out of the sky to help the soldiers on the ground. In the distance, his eye catches the sight of black smoke coming from the Pequod. He pauses momentarily, a lump forming in his throat – his entire family, all he has, was left behind on the ship. His wing gets clipped by a blast, snapping him back into the action as he starts to lose control of his fighter jet.

The ground approaches and then BAM! He hits the frozen ground below, snow spraying all around him. He is immediately surrounded by alien crafts, their hatches opening and the aliens coming out into the cold – the cold they were once weaker in.

Charles is quick to unbuckle himself and leave the jet. He starts firing at the aliens, hoping to hold them off, but his weapon does nothing – the aliens have adapted to the colder climate.

He hears footsteps, fast approaching from behind him. Glancing quickly, he sees a group of Hybrids coming towards him. He starts to run, knowing the trouble he’s about to get himself into if he doesn’t move. He runs and fires his gun uselessly at the enemies.

One by one the aliens start to drop, as do the Hybrids. Charles stops running – they aren’t dying because of his gun. He looks around, spotting Monica. She is in full concentration, dropping the enemy like flies, using her mind as her weapon.

CHARLES
What are you doing?!

She stares down the enemy, no weapons in hand. And as the last Hybrid drops to the ground, Monica collapses from exhaustion. Charles quickly runs to her, and picks her up, getting her out of harms way. He doesn’t know what the hell she just did, but right now that’s not his main concern.

He carries her towards a trench that is being dug out by Knowle and other men. They’ve had to retreat from their position at the Ice Cave, having been run out by heavy enemy attack. This is a losing war and there isn’t much that they can do.

Dodging enemy fire, Charles takes cover in the trench, catching the attention of Knowle, who stops working upon seeing Monica.

KNOWLE
(concern)
What happened to her?!

CHARLES
She just collapsed!

Knowle comes over to them.

CHARLES (CON’T)
I crashed and was being ambushed when suddenly
they started to drop. She was killing them,
with her mind...

Knowle looks down at her and starts to check her vitals. She’s still breathing, heart still beating.

KNOWLE
And she just collapsed?

Charles nods.

Shannon comes up behind them.

SHANNON
Stop fucking around! We need
to get this trench-

She stops, seeing Monica.

SHANNON
What the fuck happened?!

KNOWLE
She’s fine, but we need to get
this trench built quickly, it’s
our only chance at shelter!

Shannon nods and heads off barking orders to everyone to work faster.

KNOWLE
(to Charles)
We need to get her out of harms way.

CHARLES
I may have some smelling salts.
Dana always said to carry them
with me, just incase the boys fainted.

Charles starts to search his pockets and he retrieves some of the salts. He moves it under her nose and she wakes up with a start.

MONICA
(urgent)
We have to get to the shore. They’re
waiting for the others – an ambush!

Her urgency is sensed by the two men. Knowle looks up at Charles, trusting his wife’s instincts.

CHARLES
Who? Who’s at the shore?

MONICA
The Pequod is going down. They’ve
had to evacuate – they’re waiting
for them at shore, they’ll kill them all.

Charles looks back at Knowle – his family was on that boat.

CUT TO:

EXT. FLIGHT DECK – THE PEQUOD

The Captain and The Cigarette-Smoking Man are helping the remaining people still on board onto one of the last lifeboats. John Montgomery boards the boat, carrying with him some of his lab equipment that is easy to move. The Captain looks to Cancer Man.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
Get on.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
What about you?

CAPTAIN SCULLY
This is my ship. I’m going down with her.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
No your not sir, there’s still a
war to fight – this isn’t over. They
need your leadership. (beat) I’ll stay
here and look for any more survivors that
may still be on board and get off on the
last lifeboat. Now go, Captain.

Reluctantly, Captain Scully gets onto the lifeboat. He’s an honorable man and always thought he’d go down with his ship, but the Cancer Man is right – this war is far from over.

The lifeboat lowers to the sea and Captain Scully watches as she sinks. Cancer Man leaves the flight deck in search of others who may have survived.

TIME CUT OT:

INT. ALIEN MOTHER SHIP – SPACE

The door to the room Mulder and Krycek were being held in opens just a crack and Mulder and Krycek peer out into the hallway of the alien mother ship. Krycek’s head is below Mulder’s and he looks up at him.

KRYCEK
(whispers)
I think the coast is clear.

MULDER
(whispers)
Me too. (beat) Man, I wish
we had some aluminum foil hats.

KRYCEK
(whispers)
Me too. We were stupid to leave
them in our UFO.

MULDER
(whispers)
I know, we were too busy fighting
with each other to remember them.
See why love and friendship conquers all.

Krycek rolls his eyes at that damn Super Buddies slogan.

KRYCEK
Yeah, I get it, Mulder. If we
were Super Buddies and not fighting
we never would have forgotten our
aluminum lined helmets.

MULDER
(whispers)
At least Buddy still has his on.

KRYCEK
That doesn’t really help us.

MULDER
(whispers; scolding)
Keep whispering.

He smacks Krycek on the head and Krycek scowls at him.

MULDER
(whispers)
Ok. Let’s move out.

The door opens all the way and the boys make their way into the hallway. They are fully dressed, having somehow managed to escape the alien scientist before any anal probing and found their clothing.

The hallway is dark and empty and eerily silent, except for the low hum of the mother ship’s power.

MULDER
I think our UFO is this way.

Krycek looks down the hallway in the direction Mulder is looking.

KRYCEK
I don’t know Mulder. I
think it’s this way.

Krycek looks the opposite way. Mulder looks. A few beats later and they look the other direction.

Mulder turns and looks forward at a closed door in front of them. Without a word, he goes to the door and opens it. Krycek follows, unsure of what Mulder is doing as they reach a large room with many alien devises running.

KRYCEK
This is not the way we came.

MULDER
A lifetime we’ve known each other
and I haven’t been wrong yet.

Krycek gives him a doubtful look. Mulder notices.

MULDER
You followed and besides, I
have Mulder Luck.

Krycek shakes his head. If they get caught again, he’s going to blame Mulder entirely.

KRYCEK
What do you think this room is?

MULDER
The answer to a question we
haven’t yet asked.

KRYCEK
I thought that’s what a dream was.

MULDER
No, a dream is a wish your heart makes.

Krycek rolls his eyes.

MULDER
Ok, there’s one last thing I need
to come clean with you about.

Mulder turns towards Krycek, who isn’t thrilled to know what more Mulder Secrets there are.

KRYCEK
Do I dare ask?

MULDER
I knew what I was doing when
I was seemingly punching random
buttons in the UFO back at Sector 42.

At this point, nothing about Mulder surprises Krycek anymore.

KRYCEK
(not amused)
Is that so?

MULDER
I wanted to see if a theory
I had in my mind worked.

KRYCEK
(not amused)
And dare I ask what theory that is?

Mulder retrieves a small vial from inside his coat pocket.

KRYCEK
Is that the Furiae vaccine?

MULDER
Sure is!

KRYCEK
What good does that do us?

MULDER
It turned those Breeders, who had been
infected with an alien virus, into those
rabid people for the Hybrid project... it’s
the alien DNA that made them do that, right?

KRYCEK
I guess so.

MULDER
What if I entered this into the Mother Ship
and it killed them the way it killed that
virus in the Breeders?

KRYCEK
It’s a theory, but might I remind
you that aliens and hybrids are different.

MULDER
Only the human part of a hybrid is
different from an alien. This would
kill the alien part and maybe, just
maybe it could weaken the hybrids.

KRYCEK
But we’re in an alien mother ship.
(beat) Wouldn’t we need that vaccine
John Montgomery found inside Monica to
kill off the aliens?

MULDER
Maybe. But the aliens have mutated – they
now more closely resemble the hybrids because
they can adapt to the cold climate, right?

KRYCEK
We don’t know that, Mulder.

Mulder sighs – sometimes his friend just doesn’t have an imagination.

MULDER
(after a beat)
The aliens came back, didn’t they? And
our climate hasn’t warmed up any, right?

Krycek nods.

MULDER (CON’T)
Well, then it is save to assume that
the aliens have mutated so they can
be more adaptable to our climate -
whatever the climate may be.

KRYCEK
So you’re saying that the aliens that
colonized us years ago left to go
genetically mutate their DNA so they
could come back five years later and
really kick our asses?

MULDER
Yes.

Krycek thinks about this for a moment. He looks around him and thinks about where he is standing. What does he have to lose? If this fails, the rational chances of actually getting out of this ship are very slim. He shrugs his shoulders.

KRYCEK
Fine. Say that you are right. Say
this vaccine actually does the trick.
What happens then?

MULDER
It’s “Independence Day” all over again.
The mother ship explodes and the aliens die.

KRYCEK
And what about us?

MULDER
Well, there are two options for us.
One, we die in flames and glory and
explode with the mother ship.

Krycek cringes, that plan just doesn’t sound fun at all.

KRYCEK
I don’t want to explode.

MULDER
Or two, we do like in the movies
and get out just in the nick of time.
Like Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars”. Or
Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith in “Independence Day”.

KRYCEK
Well, I’m hoping for option two. Not
only do we live through it, but we
don’t die and return as heroes. (beat)
You think we’ll get medals at the end
from a Princess, just like Luke and Han?

MULDER
Wouldn’t that be cool!?

KRYCEK
Most definitely! Standing proudly
at the front of a huge auditorium
with a fanfare playing in our honor!

MULDER
Yeah! We could even have the fanfare
from “Star Wars” since I have it on my iPod!

KRYCEK
Me too!

They take a moment to day dream about their “Star Wars” ending.

KRYCEK
Ok, day dreaming aside, we’ve
got a planet to save!

MULDER
(excited)
YES!

KRYCEK
(excited)
So what’s our first move?

MULDER
(excited)
We inject this vaccine into the system!

KRYCEK
(excited)
Great! How?

MULDER
(excited)
Haven’t a clue!

Krycek’s excitement leaves him. He is once again not amused with Mulder.

KRYCEK
You flew us up here with the purpose
of putting this into the mother ship
and you haven’t a clue how to do it?

MULDER
It’s never been done before, Krycek.
How am I supposed to know how to do it?

KRYCEK
You read up on all those alien books.

MULDER
Yeah but, no one – outside of the movies -
has ever actually been inside a real alien
mother ship before.

Krycek ponders for a moment.

KRYCEK
(after a beat)
All right. Ok... it’s like in “Star
Wars”, when Obi-Wan goes to turn off
the power source of the Death Star so
they have a weakness... like in “Return
of the Jedi” and they have to go to the center
of the Death Star to blow it up – this
mother ship is our Death Star and we are
Luke Skywalk, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian.

MULDER
We have to find the middle of the ship!

KRYCEK
(excited)
YES!

MULDER
Well that’s easy.

KRYCEK
(confused)
It is?

MULDER
Duh, dummy! We’re standing in the middle
of the mother ship’s blue prints!

Krycek looks around and everything starts to come into play. They are in the middle of the ship’s blue prints – in an alien kind of way.

MULDER
This is the room where their technicians
oversee the health of the ship to make sure
she is working and up to top condition.

KRYCEK
So technically speaking, we could inject
this vaccine into anything here and it
would infect the ship?

Mulder shrugs.

MULDER
It’s worth a try, right?

Krycek, out of habit of just agreeing with any insane Mulder theory, is about to agree, but stops.

KRYCEK
(serious)
How many vials of that vaccine do you have?

MULDER
Just one.

KRYCEK
Then let’s be smart and not waste
it on a half thought theory.

MULDER
(serious)
But I have Mulder Luck.

KRYCEK
(getting worried)
Mulder Luck isn’t real, Mulder.

MULDER
It is too! Why do you think we’re
even standing in this room? Mulder Luck!

KRYCEK
(officially worried)
Mulder... no.

MULDER
(goofy like)
Mulder yes!

Mulder smiles deviously at Krycek and taunts him with the vial between two fingers, almost dangling and about to drop to the floor.

KRYCEK
Fox, NO!

Mulder gives him a sour look.

MULDER
(offended)
I EVEN MADE MY PARENTS CALL ME MULDER!

In his frustration with being called “Fox” rather than “Mulder”, he drops the vial to the floor! Dramatically, and almost slow-mo like, the vial falls to the floor. Krycek and Mulder watch as it falls, their eyes bug as it crashes to the ground!

KRYCEK
YOU IDIOT!

MULDER
It’s not my fault!

KRYCEK
YOU JUST DROPPED IT YOU BLOCKHEAD!

MULDER
(panicked)
I didn’t mean to!

Krycek, angry, looks up at Mulder.

KRYCEK
HOW COULD YOU JUST DROP IT!
THAT WAS OUR ONLY CHANCE!

Krycek punches Mulder – because fighting with him in a time like this is completely appropriate – end sarcasm.

They get into a fist fight, not realizing that the vial that crashed and broke on the floor is now sizzling as the vaccine oozes onto the ground. Smoke comes from the ground as the vaccine makes contact with the alien surface.

KRYCEK
YOU MORON!

Krycek punches Mulder.

MULDER
I DIDN’T MEAN TO!

Mulder punches back at Krycek.

The room starts to fill up with smoke and the boys start to cough. They really take notice as Krycek has Mulder in a headlock, giving him a noogie. Krycek stops and looks around the smoke filled room, wondering what is happening. Mulder, facing the floor in his headlock, is looking down a giant hole that the vaccine has made in the mother ship’s floor. His eyes bug at what he sees.

MULDER
(still in a headlock)
Krycek, we gotta get outta here!

KRYCEK
I think you’re right, Mulder.

He releases Mulder form his headlock and Mulder faces him.

MULDER
(happy)
It worked! It’s eating it’s way
through the mother ship! It’s going
straight for the vital heart of the ship!

Mulder smiles, beaming with pride. Krycek on the other hand, has a rational mind.

KRYCEK
Which means we’re going to explode!

He grabs Mulder’s arm and drags him out of the room! They make their way down the hallway, going the way Mulder first looked on his hunch of where their UFO is located.

They breach the man area and spot their UFO, where Buddy is standing in the hatchway, aluminum foil lined helmet still securely strapped to his head. He barks at them to hurry up and the boys run.

The mother ship starts to shake beneath their feet.

MULDER/KRYCEK
(to each other)
RUN FOR IT! (beat) I AM!

A massive piece of the mother ship falls right behind them, nearly falling right on top of them. The ground beneath their feet starts to crumble at their heels!

Buddy barks as they reach their UFO.

KRYCEK
Oh tell me you know how to fly this thing!

Mulder seals the entry way and they run into the cockpit.

MULDER
Let’s hope we don’t have a burn out!

Mulder powers up as Krycek straps himself into his chair. Buddy hops on his lap, shaking in fear – why oh why did he follow them into this UFO?

Krycek, as if instinct, starts to help power up the UFO.

MULDER
PUNCH IT!

And they start to make their way swiftly out of the mother ship! They dodge falling debris as they head for the exit.

KRYCEK
FASTER MULDER!

Mulder clenches his teeth together as he moves faster and faster. Behind them, the mother ship is collapsing, coming to it’s inevitable doom!

KRYCEK
MULDER MOVE!

MULDER
I AM!

AND ZOOM! The boys’s UFO flies out of the mother ship and into the vastness of space.

KRYCEK
How big of an explosion is that
thing going to make?

They look at each other, fearing what’s to come next.

MULDER
I don’t know.

And then they start to feel a rumble as the mother ship’s debris from the massive explosion start to catch up with them.

KRYCEK
Holy shit! Mulder! The odds of successfully
navigating debris from a blown up mother
ship are approximately three-thousand seven
hundred and twenty to one!

MULDER
Never tell me the odds!

Mulder clenches the steering and punches the accelerator. Light from the explosion starts to catch up with their UFO and can be seen out the front window. Debris starts to surround them.

MULDER
(surprisingly calm now)
Don’t worry once we hit Earth’s atmo
all this debris will burn up!

Mulder looks over and smiles cheerfully at Krycek. Krycek gives him a look, he can’t believe he’s smiling cheerfully in a moment like this!

CUT TO:

EXT. SHORE – EVENING

The sun is setting making it hard to see any approaching enemies. Doggett is in the water, leading the lifeboat to shore. Marita stands ready, her sister next to her – they are at attention with weapons ready and eyes peering out at the shore line. Marita spots enemy aliens charging in their direction.

MARITA
We’ve got live ones! Two o’clock!

Doggett looks and sees a large number of them coming in their direction. He pulls the boat to land and helps everyone out of the ship.

DOGGETT
FIND COVER! MOVE!

They all hunker down behind a dune of snow and sand. Doggett peers out at the approaching aliens. He turns to his daughter, who is holding onto her Elmo backpack.

DOGGETT
Ok Shortcake, you need to help
daddy now, all right?

KATIE
I know. I have the ammo in my
Elmo backpack.

She smiles, though still terrified.

KATIE
Elmo and ammo sound the same!

Doggett’s heart breaks that this has to happen to his daughter. And now to have her favorite Sesame Street character, Elmo, be associated with ammunition. He smiles down at her, hoping to keep her calm.

DOGGETT
That’s right, Shortcake. You stay
right behind me, all right?

Marita starts to fire her weapon at the approaching aliens. The bullets are laced with the vaccine they used against them years ago, but it isn’t working this time around.

MARITA
FUCK! They’ve mutated!

Doggett looks up at her with worry.

DOGGETT
What?

MARITA
It holds them back a little,
but it doesn’t kill them. Not
like before!

DOGGETT
KEEP FIRING! WE HAVE TO HOLD
THEM BACK FOR AS LONG AS WE CAN!

He takes aim and fires several rounds at the enemy. He hands Katie his empty weapon and she hands him a fully loaded one.

The exchange of gunfire happens for some time until our heroes run out of ammunition.

DOGGETT
Katie, hand me another!

KATIE
(in tears)
It’s all gone!

Doggett looks down at his daughter, trying to hide the “oh shit” expression. She starts to cry.

DOGGETT
It’s all right Katie.

He looks up at Maria, who in a last attempt to hold off an alien tosses her empty weapon at it.

MARIA
Is there any more?!

MARITA
I’m out!

Doggett swallows a lump and goes for the stiletto that is in his pocket. The twins look to him for an answer of what to do next. Maria has tears in her eyes from fear, whereas Marita looks at Doggett, sees the stiletto and knows what to do. She turns to her sister.

MARITA
Maria, you need to stay here
and keep the children safe.
John and I will fight them.

MARIA
(scared)
With what?

MARITA
Just do it!

Maria nods her head and gathers up all of the children and takes cover.

Marita looks to Doggett, who tosses her a second stiletto. She grabs it, looks down at it and feels that she is ready to sacrifice everything, including her life, to save everyone.

DOGGETT
You know how that works?

MARITA
I’ve been trained proficiently.

Doggett nods and the two of them head out to the aliens for a battle of hand to hand combat.

And then – BAM! The head of one of the aliens is blown off!

Doggett and Marita stop and look to where the fire came from to see Knowle, Shannon, Charles and Monica – all armed to the gills and ready to fight!

DOGGETT
What took you guys so long?

CHARLES
(joking)
Traffic!

He tosses Doggett a weapon and the battle continues, this time with more soldiers and more ammunition.

SMASH CUT TO:

EXT. TRENCH NEAR THE ICE CAVE – EVENING – CON’T

Skinner has lead his troops and have re-claimed the Ice Cave with the help of his trusty bazooka and Ray Douglas. The Hybrids start to fall back, but the alien forces helping them continue forward.

POW! Skinner fires his bazooka at them with a loud explosion. He drops a few of them, but not all.

Up in the darkening sky, a shower of debris from the alien mother ship in space sprinkles the skyline. Skinner looks up, wondering what the hell that was.

The alien ground forces start to advance again on them, but suddenly drop, as their life line in space has just exploded.

All the soldiers stop firing their weapons and watch as the massive amount of aliens just die. All eyes drift skyward to the explosion. Skinner’s eyes narrow as he focuses on a lone alien craft heading right for them.

SKINNER
We’ve got incoming!

He steadies his aim at the lone UFO with his bazooka.

MULDER
(filtered through Ray’s radio)
TK421---copy?

Ray looks down at his radio and tries to get a clearer signal. Skinner fires his bazooka at the lone UFO, hitting it slightly off course!

SKINNER
Come and get it you alien assholes!

He fires again as the falling UFO, this time missing it.

RAY
Someone’s trying to get through
on the radio, Helmet!

Skinner looks over at Ray as he clears up the signal.

MULDER
(filtered through radio)
Blue on blue! Stop firing at us!

Skinner goes over to Ray and takes the radio.

SKINNER
Mulder?

KRYCEK
(filtered through radio)
... dumb-pummies! It’s us!

MULDER
(filtered through radio)
Cue Ball? Is that you?!

Skinner rolls his eyes. He hates that nickname.

SKINNER
Where are you guys?

MULDER/KRYCEK
(filtered through radio)
In the UFO! Blue on blue! Stop it!

They seem rather panicked at being fired at.

KRYCEK
(scared ninny voice)
We’re crashing, yo!

INT. UFO – CON’T

Krycek gives Mulder a thumbs up at the use of the word “yo”. Mulder smiles and gives him a thumbs up. This is going to be so fun to make everyone keep believing that they are idiots. Which is idiotic anyway.

EXT. ICE CAVE – CON’T

Skinner watches the UFO in the sky as it swerves around, falling towards the ground with no direction.

SKINNER
Get that thing under control, most riki tik!

MULDER/KRYCEK
(filtered through radio)
Rikki Tikki Tavi!

Skinner shakes his head – can they really be this dumb?

SKINNER
(under breath)
Damn fools. (beat; into radio) It’s
actually “most riki tik”.

MULDER
(filtered through radio)
No it isn’t. Rikki Tikki Tavi was quicker!

SKINNER
Let’s not argue this, boys. C’mon
boys, balls to the wall, land that thing.

Mulder and Krycek can be hear snickering through the radio at the “balls to the wall” comment. Skinner rolls his eyes. Morons.

MULDER/KRYCEK
(filtered through radio)
Tally ho!

Skinner let’s out a sigh and watches the UFO in the sky.

RAY
How’s it coming with them?

SKINNER
SNAFU, Ray.

SNAFU = “Situation normal, all fucked up”

Ray and Skinner watch as Mulder and Krycek weave the UFO around in the sky and come crashing down to the ground. Ray and Skinner wince, just as the hatch opens to their UFO and Mulder and Krycek appear in the hatchway with their arms out stretched in pride.

KRYCEK
WHO DA MAN!? I DA MAN! YO!

He turns to Mulder and they jump up and bump chests. Land on two feet, turn and bump their bums.

MULDER
YOU TOTALLY ARE, BROTHA!

They high five each other as Buddy runs as fast as his little dog legs can carry him to the Ice Cave – he’s had enough of them!

Skinner approaches the boys.

SKINNER
You boys all right?

MULDER
Yeah.

KRYCEK
DUH!

MULDER
We blew up the mother ship!

SKINNER
Well, that seemed to do the trick
for our alien enemies – they died
shortly after we saw the explosion in the sky.

Skinner motions to the sky where the explosion can still be seen. Mulder and Krycek turn and look up.

MULDER/KRYCEK
Ooh... ahh...

MULDER
It’s like fireworks!

KRYCEK
I love fireworks! Especially the pink ones!

Skinner rolls his eyes.

RAY
Just heard back from Knowle at the
shore! (beat) The aliens died there
too. They’re on their way back.

SWIPE CUT TO:

INT. THE PEQUOD – EVENING

The Cigarette-Smoking Man is wading through icy cold water. His legs are freezing up on him and he’s about to give up searching for survivors. The back up lights are flickering, about to give up and die with the rest of the ship. His body is stiff from the cold as he makes his way through. He’s about to head up a stair way when he hears a woman struggling from the darkness of the hallway.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
Is someone there?

He hears the woman grunt, as if struggling with something.

SCULLY
(calling from the darkness)
I’m down here. Don’t waste your
time. I’m stuck – get off the boat!

Cancer Man makes his way down the hallway, struggling against the incline of the sinking ship. The water levels lowering on him as he gets closer to Scully. She comes into his view and she looks at him.

SCULLY
Why are you still here?

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
I stayed behind to help anyone
still stuck on the ship.

SCULLY
Well it’s going down – get
out of here. I can take care of myself.

Cancer Man doesn’t do as she says. He kneels down next to her and examines how she is stuck. She has been pinned down by the arm and has cuts from her attempts at getting out. The water is at her waist and she is freezing cold.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
You’ll never make it on your own.
John has your little girl, they
are back on land and I’m sure
you want to get back to them.

He starts to move some debris and she winces. He’s careful as he works and Scully has stopped fighting with him about getting off.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
I’m sorry for all the evil I’ve ever
brought onto you. I know you can never
accept my apology and I don’t expect you to.

She hears the sincerity in his voice, but has no response to what he has said. She appreciates his apology, but he is right, she can never forgive him for what he did to her.

He frees her from being pinned down and helps her to her feet. Her arm is bleeding, but he has nothing to help bandage her up.

CIGARETTE-SMOKING MAN
There’s one last lifeboat on the flight deck.
I haven’t found anyone else alive, but you.
We should get out of here now.

Scully nods her head and they head back down the hallway, going into the icy water and finding the stairway upwards.

CUT TO:

EXT. FLIGHT DECK – CON’T

The flight deck is sinking underneath the water quickly now. The Smoking Man pushes the door open, fighting against the rising water of the ocean. Water rushes in and Scully almost loses her footing, but the Cancer Man catches her and pushes her out to sea. The last lifeboat is floating near by. Scully tries to control her rapid breathing as fear has kicked in. The Smoking Man on the other hand has remained calm and helps her swim out to the boat.

The icy water surrounds them, freezing their muscles, threatening to stop them in their tracks and take their lives along with that of the Pequod.

They manage to reach the lifeboat and the Cigarette-Smoking Man lifts her with all his strength into the boat. She turns to help him and she sees that he is gasping for breath. The cold water and the strength exerted is too much for his old heart. His left hand grabs his chest, over his heart, as it fails. Scully watches, knowing there is nothing she can do to help him.

She lies down in the boat, not wanting to see him die. She holds her arms and her hands against her chest to try to warm up. She closes her eyes and hears him gasping for air, then only silence and she knows that he has died. She chokes back on her own sense of impending death and knows that she must find the inner and physical strength to make her way to shore. She can’t let his sacrifice to save her life be meaningless. She sits up, her body shaking as she grabs an ore and begins paddling her way to shore just as the sun sinks below the horizon. Behind her, the last of the Pequod is swallowed by the frozen ocean water.

TIME CUT TO:

EXT. SHORE – NIGHT

Captain Scully looks out at the ocean, barely lit in the moonlight. The silhouette of the Pequod is no longer in his view. His heart sunk with his ship, knowing that Dana, his only living daughter, sunk with it.

John Montgomery approaches him.

MONTGOMERY
Captain, I made contact with Ray.
He says the Ice Cave was hit, but
they were able to take it back. The
Hybrids have retreated.

Montgomery sounds hopeful that maybe they will leave the planet. Captain Scully looks at him.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
They’ll be back, and with a plan
that will annihilate us all. (beat)
We should get there quickly and
start our preparations for a new tactical assault.

MONTGOMERY
Yes, sir. (beat) Our shoreline patrollers
have a Snow Trac for all of us. We should
arrive at the cave in-

He is interrupted by the sound of hollering from somewhere down the beach. They turn to that direction and see a single lifeboat pulling into shore with one person on board.

Captain Scully takes a step forward and squints his eyes, his instinct telling him that it is Dana. He watches as a man helps her out of the boat – it is her. He runs up to her.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
Starbuck?

Scully looks at him, her arm bleeding, her body shaking in the freezing cold and she smiles at him.

SCULLY
Ahab.

She salutes her father. He goes up to her and hugs her.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
(to the others)
We need to get her something warm
to wear. She needs medical attention now.

A couple people run off to do as the Captain orders.

TIME CUT TO:

INT. MEDICAL WING - ICE CAVE – NIGHT

TWO HOURS LATER

Scully is getting dressed into warmer clothing, her arm patched up by Dr. Montgomery. There is a quiet knock on the door.

SCULLY
Come in.

The door opens and Katie comes running in, latching onto her mother’s leg.

KATIE
(relieved)
MOMMY!

John follows in after her and smiles as Scully kneels down to be eye level with her daughter.

KATIE
You’re ok!

SCULLY
That’s right. I’m all right.

Katie touches the bandage on her arm and looks at her with a look that questions Scully’s words.

SCULLY
I’m fine, Shortcake. It’s just a
little scratch.

KATIE
Not a serious owie?

SCULLY
Nothing serious at all.

KATIE
I was so scared, mommy. I cried.
(beat) Then daddy had to show me
how to load ammo from my Elmo backpack.

Katie smiles with pride that she helped her daddy.

Scully looks up at John with concern.

DOGGETT
No other option.

KATIE
And then we ran out of ammo and
I cried again. But auntie Maria
watched over us as daddy and everyone
else fought the bad guys. (beat) It was loud.

SCULLY
I bet it was. I’m glad you’re all
right. I was worried for you.

KATIE
I was worried for you too mommy.

Katie wraps her arms around her mommy’s neck and squeezes her as tightly as she can. Doggett comes up to Scully as she picks Katie up in her arms and he wraps his arms around her and kisses the top of her head. She looks up at him and smiles, thankful he’s all right.

KATIE
Oh mommy, I’m just so happy!
Is the fighting all over?

Katie pulls away from her embrace and looks to her parents hopeful.

SCULLY
You won’t have to fight anymore.

Katie smiles, relieved.

KATIE
So Elmo can go back to just
being Elmo, not Ammo?

SCULLY
Yes, he can be just Elmo again.

KATIE
(relieved)
Oh good! He was scared too!

She hugs her mom again.

CUT TO:

INT. ICE CAVE

The Ice Cave has been badly damaged, but is still sufficient enough to be the only remaining headquarters for our surviving warriors and heroes. Debris has been moved to the edges and everyone is filing into an area to be briefed on the next plan of action.

MONTGOMERY
... theoretically this plan should work.

Mulder and Krycek sit across from each other and stare each other down – as if having a telepathic conversation with each other about Dr. Montgomery’s theory of using the Furiae vaccine to take out the Hybrids.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
This is a risky mission that I don’t
feel comfortable choosing someone to
do it. Chances are, you will not return.

Mulder and Krycek nod their heads at one another.

Knowle stands up.

KNOWLE
Sir, I volunteer for the mission.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
Are you sure?

He can’t help but think that was a quick decision he just made.

KNOWLE
Sir, I have been trained by the best.
Ask any of my former Special Ops team,
they’ll tell you I’m the best man for
this mission.

Captain Scully turns to Ray, who nods his head, agreeing with Knowle.

RAY
He’s the best we had, sir. Better
than me even, and I was his mentor, the
one who was to give him guidance, and he
ended up guiding me.

Captain Scully returns his attention back to Knowle.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
All right, General Rohrer. This
mission is all yours.

Mulder and Krycek give each other a big wink.

Monica stands up next to Knowle.

MONICA
Sir, I request to accompany Knowle.
With my abilities I’d be able to
sense danger and help with the
success of the mission.

Knowle turns to her, not expecting her to volunteer.

KNOWLE
(whispers)
What are you doing?

She looks at him.

MONICA
(whispers)
You’re not going in alone. You
can’t do this without someone
watching your back.

She turns her attention back to the Captain.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
I’m all for having back up if the
General is. (beat) I’ll leave it
up to him to decide.

Monica nods her head and she and Knowle sit down. She leans in to whisper to him.

MONICA
(whispers)
It’s decided, I’m going with you.

There is no arguing with her.

CAPTAIN SCULLY
I think it would be wise to get
this mission underway as soon as
possible. We don’t know when the
Hybrids will be returning.

Mulder and Krycek sneak out of the area, strapping on their aluminum foil helmets. They give each other a thumbs up.

CAPTAIN SCULLY (CON’T)
Knowle, Monica, we have our last
fighter jet ready and equipped for
this mission. Your missiles have been
armed with the vaccine. (beat) Good
luck and thank you.

SHANNON
HOO-RAH!

The excitement of the room is interrupted with the sound of the one and only, last remaining fighter jet firing up outside of the Ice Cave. Everyone looks around and notice that Mulder and Krycek are no longer in the cave.

KNOWLE
HOLY SHIT!

He’s on his feet and running for the cave entrance to see Mulder and Krycek buckling themselves into the cockpit of the fighter jet that is equipped for this mission.

Everyone follows him out and they all stop in their tracks as the jet starts to move, preparing for take off.

KNOWLE
NOT AGAIN! (beat; more intense) DAMMIT!

Mulder and Krycek look out at everyone and wave goodbye. They are smiling happily as they make their way to the run way.

INT. FIGHTER JET COCKPIT – CON’T

Krycek is in the pilot seat as he is the only successfully trained – Knowle’s own doing, and maybe his undoing. Mulder sits behind him, a sense of pride. He smiles and states with presidential confidence:

MULDER
I want to believe, as President of
Super Buddies, that I can and will
save all my Super Buddies. Because
love and friendship conquers all.

KRYCEK
Bring it bi-atch!

And ZOOM! They are in the air and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them. Now, the future and survival of the human race and the planet rests on the shoulders of Fox and Alex... who once built a website...

SMASH CUT BACK TO:

EXT. ICE CAVE – CON’T

Everyone looks at the sky as the fighter jet disappears from view. Everyone has a look of defeat, there’s no way these two ninnies can accomplish this suicide mission.

Maria steps forward and looks up to the sky.

MARIA
(hopeful)
As Fox would say... I want to believe...

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. COCKPIT

The boys are silent and serious as they leave the clouds, over looking the main Hybrid colony. They both swallow a lump that formed in their throats.

KRYCEK
(serious)
You scared?

MULDER
I am. But if fear stops us
now, then they’ll all die.

They sit in silence again, thinking of their loved ones back at the Ice Cave.

KRYCEK
(serious; after a long beat)
Mulder... I need to tell you something
very, very serious and important.

MULDER
What that?

KRYCEK
You know your little psychological
experiment you did on me?

MULDER
Yeah?

KRYCEK
I knew about it all along.

Mulder, like Krycek did in the mother ship, sits and ponders this. But unlike Krycek, he’s not mentally checking off factual evidence in his memory.

MULDER
(truly confused)
Huh? How?!

Krycek smiles.

KRYCEK
I found your notes on me.

MULDER
You did not!

KRYCEK
I sure did! So I thought I’d
play along and get the better
of you! I mean, every time you
would leave the room and we had
been acting like bafoons... I’d
have to take a deep breath to find
the energy to do it all again when
you returned!

MULDER
Oh my god! I did the same thing!

They start to laugh at how stupid they have both been all these years.

MULDER
It’s no wonder we slept so well!

KRYCEK
Even in bathtubs!

MULDER
And the floor! Holy heck! You
so got the better of me!

They erupt with laughter as they continue to fly towards the Hybrid colony to save the world. Mulder, however, abruptly stops laughing with a sudden revelation.

MULDER
(slightly mad)
You asshole!

KRYCEK
(defensive)
What?

MULDER
You picked a fight with me
in the mother ship about that
in a time like that?! Why?!

KRYCEK
It got us out of the UFO, didn’t it?
It got your ultimate plan to blow up
the mother ship under way, didn’t it?

MULDER
You DID NOT know I was planning
that all along! No way!

KRYCEK
Yes way! C’mon! Think about it Mulder!
When we were flying up into space, we
were both hitting seemingly random buttons
that got us up into space and lead us
straight for the mother ship.(beat) Then
when the thing was blowing up, I was
helping you power up the UFO so we could
get out safely.

Mulder opens his mouth – attempting to negate what he’s saying, but he starts to mentally check off the evidence and realizes that what Krycek is saying is true.

MULDER
(in awe)
Oh wow... So you knew what I was
planning to do all along? How?

KRYCEK
I don’t know. I guessed that that
would be something you would want
to do. (beat) I knew you knew that
the UFO was in Sector 42, so when you
called me about it and we volunteered
for that part of the mission – I just
kind of figured.

He shrugs his shoulders.

MULDER
Wow, we really make a good team.

KRYCEK
We sure do. So what are we
doing up here?

MULDER
Not sure exactly.

KRYCEK
Ah well, that worked the last time.

Their fighter jet slowly descends down onto the Hybrid colony.

MULDER
Remember way back when, when we
were sitting next to each other
on Kriysa Airlines and I shot at
you with invisible ink?

KRYCEK
Yeah?

MULDER
(dead serious)
That was really funny, but... what
if I told you that these missiles
have been replaced with one’s that
are filled with invisible ink rather
than the vaccine?

Angry, Krycek shoots a mad glare back at Mulder.

KRYCEK
(pissed off)
HOLY SHIT MULDER! YOU-

MULDER
(overly humored)
Just kidding!

KRYCEK
I was about to kill you!

Krycek turns back around to focus on the task at hand. Mulder smiles and laughs quietly to himself. It is still oh so much fun to pick on Krycek.

KRYCEK
(after a beat)
You ready?

MULDER
Yep.

KRYCEK
All right, I’m preparing the
launch sequence for the missiles.

As they lower closer to the Hybrid colony, they start to get shot at from the enemy below.

KRYCEK
Hang on Mulder!

Krycek flies low and swiftly down into the Hybrid colony.

KRYCEK
All right! Drop it!

Mulder hits a button and the first missile is launched. They watch as it falls down onto the Hybrid colony. It explodes and all the surrounding Hybrids are covered in the vaccine. They start to gasp for air, shrivel up and fall to the ground, dying. Their bodies melt with green ooze.

Mulder and Krycek cheer! It worked!

KRYCEK
All right! Let’s get the rest
of these dudes out of our home!

Mulder drops a second missile as Krycek gets on the radio.

KRYCEK
Echo niner! Echo base! This is Pee-Wee!

KNOWLE
(filtered through radio)
We copy.

He doesn’t sound as pissed as they thought he would be. Instead, he sounds hopeful.

KRYCEK
We got ‘em! They melt like the
Wicked Witch from “The Wizard of Oz”!
(beat) Get on the radio and tell the
world and let’s kick these dumb-pummies
out of existence! HOO-RAH, BABY!

Over the radio, Krycek hears Knowle bark off orders to let the other land colonies know how to defeat the Hybrids and take back the planet. They have won!

KNOWLE
(filtered through radio)
Good job boys! Now get back
here and land that thing safely.

KRYCEK
Will do! We’ll be back soon. (beat)
And Knowle...

KNOWLE
(filtered through radio)
Yeah?

KRYCEK
May the Force be with you... always.

Krycek clicks off the radio, knowing that everyone back at the Ice Cave who was around the radio just rolled their eyes.

TIME CUT TO:

EXT. ICE CAVE

Krycek safely lands the fighter jet outside the Ice Cave. Mulder and Krycek watch and smile as everyone comes out to welcome them back and cheer for joy at their accomplishment for mankind. They don’t get out just yet as they are fully taking it all in... they are so having their “Star Wars” medal award winning ending. They smile, beaming with pride.

Mulder and Krycek are silent for a little while, thinking back on the past twenty-four hours where they were, where they’ve been and where they are right now. They burst out in joy:

MULDER/KRYCEK
WE LIVED!

Krycek quickly opens the hatch of the fighter jet and stands up, as does Mulder. They turn to one another and hug.

SCULLY
You did it!

Mulder and Krycek don’t part from their hug.

MULDER
(whispers)
She just said Princess Leia’s line.

KRYCEK
(whispers; giddy)
I know. We are so getting medals.

They get off the plane and Marita and Maria run up to their men and hug and kiss them. Everyone pats them on the back for a job well done. Their congratulatory welcome back and job well done last for a few more minutes before everyone scatters to take care of remaining business.

Captain Scully pats them on the back, who knew they’d be the one’s to save mankind.

He walks off with the rest of the crowd, leaving our heroes alone with each other.

KRYCEK
Well... now what?

MULDER
Well, we can either go back and cuddle
in a hotel bed and talk about how maybe
there’s hope and then six years later
come back and not even resemble ourselves...

Krycek cringes at that thought. How lame!

MULDER
(excited!)
OR! We can go back and have the “Return
of the Jedi” ending and have the possibility
to do prequels! Oh! Oh! And better yet! We can
celebrate with the real Ewok “chub chub” music!

KRYCEK
(eyes shut in pure excitement)
OH! YES!!! YES!

MULDER
And even better!

KRYCEK
(shaking with excitement)
OH THE ANTICIPATION!

MULDER
We can time cut to make it Christmas too!

They jump up and down and hug – yes, they are alone and only with the “renewed back to normal selves” and are jumping like giddy school girls.

TIME CUT TO:

EXT. ICE CAVE – NIGHT

DECEMBER 25, 2012
CHRISTMAS

The Ice Cave is hopping with Christmas music blaring over the sound speakers. A Christmas tree has been erected in the middle of the cave and decorated the best they could with what little they had left.

Mulder and Krycek stand next to one another and shake their heads. This isn’t the music they wanted.

KRYCEK
You got it?

MULDER
(duh, dummy)
I sure do!

He turns off the Christmas music and plugs in his iPod to the sound system and finds his “Star Wars” playlist and puts on the “Ewok Celebration” music from the original LP recording of the “Return of the Jedi” soundtrack by John Williams.

READER:
Hit "play" and enjoy the Ewok Celebration music by John Williams... yes, the one from the ORIGINAL "Return of the Jedi" ending. It is required listening as you read this last and final super spectacular scene of "Fox & Rat" Virtual Series, and oh so worth it...

Everyone looks around confused... what the hell is this? And why is it playing on Christmas night. Mulder and Krycek move to the center of the cave, in front of the Christmas tree and start to dance.

To make this even cheesier, everyone starts to celebrate with them. Hugging friends and enjoying the fact that the planet is now safe from any and all alien/hybrid threat.

Knowle and John hug, patting each other on the back. Scully and Marita dance together, joined by Krycek. Mulder does a jig with Skinner and pats him on his bald head. Monica puts a red nose on Katie and picks her up. Charles hands over a present to Mulder and Krycek. They rip it open and find that it is a copy of “Hawaiian Bunny” – the movie that Robert Alfredo borrowed from them many years ago and never returned. They squeal with delight and hug him in stereo and kiss him on the cheeks. He rolls his eyes.

Our heroes gather together in front of the Christmas tree and pose for a group photo with big smiles to be remembered for years to come...

FADE TO BLACK:

EPILOGUE

In the spring of 2013 Earth returned back to normal climate and flowers bloomed across the land. The reconstruction of cities and towns across the world began and by that fall, our heroes were living in homes all their own in Virginia.

Walter Skinner and Shannon McMahon hooked up, but never married. And found together a strong, loving bonding. They live together as a couple and are happy just as they are. They never had any children, and were content because of what happened when their friends had children...

Fox and Maria Mulder lived a long and happy life in love. They had one child, a daughter named Pookalina Shmi Mulder. “Shmi”, her middle name, was named after Anakin Skywalker’s mother from the “Star Wars” prequel, “The Phantom Menace”.

Alexander and Marita Covarrubias got married (yes, he took her last name), officially and legally, and had two children, the eldest a son named Alexander Sergeiovich Krycek The Second Junior Junior Junior Junior Covarrubias. When their son was five, he decided to make everyone, including his parents, call him “Martin”. Unbeknownst to Krycek, but eventually known to all, Marita wanted a normal child without Krycek genetics and asked, with her sister’s permission, Mulder to donate his sperm. The second child was an unplanned pregnancy, only months after their divorce was finalized, a girl named Sasha Baby Krycek Covarrubias. Who went on to be a famous singer as exuberant and flamboyant as her father, went on to record her first album “Sasha Baby” which included her rendition of her father’s favorite song, “Bat Poop Eyes” – and “made it better”. Her second album, based off of her self-proclaimed nickname, “Da Diva” included the hit song “Sexalicious”, in which the music video, directed by her father, featured men licking dark chocolate syrup off of her semi nude body.

“Martin” Krycek and Pookalina Shmi Mulder (who yes, goes by her full name and loves it) became great friends and searchers of everlasting love and friendship through out the universe.

John and Dana Doggett had their second child, their son, named William Henry Doggett, who was born on 4 July 2013 at the Doggett lake cabin in Luray, Virginia (where they lived while their house in Falls Church was being rebuilt). The endless jokes of patriotism within the Doggett family are sure to carry on to the shoulders of their son. Katie, never did marry any male in the Mulder and Krycek families, much to the relief of her parents. William grew up following in his father’s footsteps and became a General with the United States Marine Corps, and later President of the United States. Inspired by her Auntie Monica, Katie went on to be a fashion designer and married a man named Nicholas Walker (they couple lives in Paris, France).

Knowle and Monica Rohrer went on to have two children – twins, not identical. The eldest twin, Carolina Amata Isabella Carmen Naomi Rohrer, and her brother Jonathan Justin Carlos Rohrer, “J.J.”. Carolina went on to be an aspiring actress and married William Henry Doggett. Jonathan spent his life studying science and works with Martin Krycek and Pookalina Shmi Mulder to help them find love and friendship throughout the world. He married Pookalina Shmi, finding their everlasting love together.

Take a moment to realize that because of their children, the above mentioned are forever related through marriage.

Mulder and Krycek remained as good as friends as ever and still, until the very end of life, continued to fool their friends, family and all their loved one’s with the never ending question: are they, or aren’t they?
